Suns aim to stay on the offensive under Gentry

Feb 20, 2009 - 3:13 PM Oklahoma City (13-41) at Phoenix (30-23), 9:00 p.m. EST

PHOENIX (Ticker) -- The Phoenix Suns' offense has exploded in two games under interim coach Alvin Gentry. Of course, that was against the Los Angeles Clippers.

Phoenix looks to keep rolling offensively when it takes on another Western Conference doormat, the Oklahoma City Thunder on Friday.

In the two games since Gentry took over for Terry Porter, Phoenix has posted consecutive blowout victories over hapless Los Angeles. The Suns won, 140-100, on Tuesday and by a 142-119 score on Wednesday.

Amare Stoudemire had 42 points and 11 rebounds in Wednesday's win and Shaquille O'Neal is a combined 14-for-16 from the floor in the two games as the Suns appear to enjoy playing for their new coach.

Oklahoma City is not the pushover it was to start the season, but the Thunder have lost three in a row and are 3-22 on the road.

Kevin Durant poured in a career-high 47 points and Jeff Green added 24 but Oklahoma City lost to New Orleans, 100-98, on Thursday.

Durant is averaging 33.1 points in February and is fourth in the league at 25.9 per contest overall.
