Nuggets look to end road trip on a strong note
Feb 22, 2009 - 2:18 AM Denver (37-18) at Milwaukee (27-31) 5:00 p.m. ESTMILWAUKEE (Ticker) -- The Denver Nuggets are in the midst of a season-long eight game road trip. The trip started off well, with the Nuggets winning five of their first six. However, the miles are beginning to catch up with the Northwest Division leaders.
After losing to the Chicago Bulls on Friday, Denver could be without the services of two of their starters Sunday evening against the Milwaukee Bucks.
The Nuggets may be without All-Star forward Carmelo Anthony and forward Kenyon Martin. Anthony suffered a bruised right knee during Friday's loss to the Bulls, and Martin was suffering from back spasms. Martin left Friday night's game midway through the second quarter and did not return.
Despite the rash of injuries, the Nuggets have played very well of late, winning seven of their last 10, and going 5-2 on their voyage across the country.
The Bucks will look to bounce back after being thrashed by LeBron James on Friday. The Cavaliers' superstar scored 55 points, a new record for a visiting player at the Bradley Center, en route to a 111-103 victory over the Bucks.
The Bucks are not without injuries themselves. They lost perennial All-Star Michael Redd for the season with a torn ACL on January 24. They have also had to operate without the services of center Andrew Bogut, who hasn't played since January 31. Bogut will be sidelined for at least five more weeks with an incomplete stress fracture in his lower back.
This is the final meeting between the teams this season. In the first encounter, Linas Kleiza scored 25 points off the bench to lead Denver to a 114-105 victory.
