Garnett's absence not slowing Celtics

Feb 25, 2009 - 11:26 AM Boston (46-12) at LA Clippers (14-43) 10:30 p.m. EST

LOS ANGELES (Ticker) -- The Boston Celtics are cruising along despite the absence of emotional leader Kevin Garnett.

The Celtics go for their third straight win on Wednesday when they visit the Los Angeles Clippers.

Garnett, the reigning Defensive Player of the Year, will be out for two to three weeks after suffering a knee injury during Thursday's 90-85 loss to the Utah Jazz.

If Boston is missing Garnett's presence, it isn't showing. After outrunning the Phoenix Suns for a 20-point win on Sunday, the Celtics throttled the Denver Nuggets on Monday, claiming a 114-76 victory.

Ray Allen led the way with 26 points, Paul Pierce added 22 and Rajon Rondo collected 14, eight rebounds and eight assists for Boston, which held the Nuggets to 35 percent (25-of-72) shooting - including 3-of-21 from beyond the arc.

A win against the Clippers would give the Celtics a 5-1 record on their season-high, six-game road trip.

Los Angeles snapped a three-game slide Monday, forging a 118-105 victory over the Golden State Warriors.

Marcus Camby scored nine points and grabbed six boards during the win in his first game since February 9 after missing the previous four contests with an ear infection.
