Alston, Magic continue gelling process vs. 76ers

Feb 28, 2009 - 11:12 AM Orlando (42-16) at Philadelphia (29-28) 7:00 p.m. EST

PHILADELPHIA (Ticker) -- The Orlando Magic have been a mediocre team since losing All-Star point guard Jameer Nelson on February 2. Rafer Alston and company are looking to change that.

Alston and the Magic will be looking to move above .500 since Nelson's season-ending shoulder injury when they face the Philadelphia 76ers on Saturday.

Nelson suffered the injury against the Dallas Mavericks and Orlando went on to lose that game and five more after it, compiling a 6-6 mark since the injury.

Alston was brought in at the trade deadline to make up for Nelson's absence and has averaged nearly 13 points and six assists since moving into the starting lineup, but the Magic cannot seem to find a steady rhythm.

After scoring over 100 points in three straight games, Orlando suffered a 93-85 loss at Detroit on Friday. The Magic shot 47 percent but were outrebounded, 38-28, and hit just 4-of-19 3-point attempts.

The Sixers have rebounded from a four-game slide with two straight road wins, taking advantage of the Washington Wizards and New York Knicks.

Andre Miller scored 25 points and Thaddeus Young added 23 in Friday's 108-103 win over the Knicks.
