Atlanta hopes to regain winning form vs. Wizards

Mar 2, 2009 - 6:09 AM Atlanta (33-26) at Washington (14-45) 7:00 p.m. EST

WASHINGTON (Ticker) -- Coming off a tough loss against one of the best teams in the NBA, the Atlanta Hawks will be looking to rebound against one of the worst when they face the Washington Wizards on Monday.

The Hawks became the latest team to be victimized by LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers on Sunday, falling, 88-87, when James hit a free throw with 1.6 seconds left.

Atlanta rallied from a 13-point deficit to take a five-point lead with 1:42 left, but Delonte West hit a jumper and Mo Williams drained a 3-pointer before James was fouled.

Joe Johnson scored 21 points to lead five players in double figures for the Hawks, who have dropped four of five.

Atlanta is now embarking on a three-game road trip, where it has struggled to a 13-19 record this season.

The Wizards remain the weakest team in the Eastern Conference and have dropped three of four. They fell to the Milwaukee Bucks, 109-93, on Saturday.

The Hawks have won all three meetings this season, including a 111-90 triumph on February 10 in which Johnson went off for 22 points and eight assists.
