Hornets aim for fifth straight win vs. 76ers
Mar 2, 2009 - 6:11 AM New Orleans (36-22) at Philadelphia (29-29) 7:00 p.m. ESTPHILADELPHIA (Ticker) -- The New Orleans Hornets will be looking to push their winning streak to five games when they visit the Philadelphia 76ers on Monday.
The Hornets' recent surge began when Tyson Chandler returned from injury and had a potential trade to the Oklahoma City Thunder rescinded.
The 7-1 center recorded a double-double in each of his first two games back but made his biggest impact on Friday, tipping in David West's miss with 3.3 seconds left to give New Orleans a 95-94 win over the Milwaukee Bucks.
Chandler followed that up with seven points and 12 rebounds and West added 32 and 11 en route to a 99-96 win at New Jersey on Sunday. Known for his defensive presence, Chandler helped hold the Nets' three starting frontcourt players to a combined 14 points.
The Sixers are looking to rebound from a 106-100 loss to the Orlando Magic on Saturday. Andre Miller scored 23 points and Andre Iguodala added 22 in the setback.
The Hornets won the first meeting between the teams, 101-86, on January 26 as Chris Paul recorded a triple-double with 27 points, 10 rebounds and 15 assists.
