Westbrook rising for Thunder without Durant, Green

Mar 4, 2009 - 11:21 AM Washington (14-46) at Oklahoma City (15-45) 8:00 p.m. EST

OKLAHOMA CITY (Ticker) -- Russell Westbrook is helping the Oklahoma City Thunder overcome the absence of their two top players.

Westbrook tries to lead the Thunder to their first three-game win streak on Wednesday when they host the lowly Washington Wizards.

The rookie point guard recorded his first career triple-double on Monday, leading Oklahoma City to a 96-87 victory over the Dallas Mavericks.

Westbrook had 17 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists for the Thunder, who played without leading-scorers Kevin Durant and Jeff Green.

Durant, the NBA's fourth-leading scorer who is averaging 26 points per game, has missed two straight contests with a severely sprained right ankle and Green sat out against Dallas due to a sore back.

After managing just four wins in 12 games last month, the Wizards started March the same way they ended February - with a loss.

Washington dropped a 98-89 decision to the Atlanta Hawks on Monday following a 16-point loss to the Milwaukee Bucks on Saturday.
