Bulls continue playoff push vs. Warriors
Mar 4, 2009 - 11:22 AM Golden State (21-39) at Chicago (27-34) 8:30 p.m. ESTCHICAGO (Ticker) -- After suffering a setback on Tuesday, the Chicago Bulls will get right back to their playoff push as they return home.
A game out of the final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference, the erratic Bulls play host to the Golden State Warriors on Wednesday night.
Chicago suffered a 96-80 loss to the Charlotte Bobcats - who are lurking two games back with playoff hopes of their own - as Ben Gordon and Derrick Rose were neutralized by the Charlotte defense. The Bulls shot just 39 percent while being held to their lowest scoring output since December 26.
Right now, they can't afford too many disappointing efforts. The race for the final one or two playoff spots remains brutally tight, as seven teams are within five games of each other. Chicago's schedule for the rest of the month doesn't get much easier.
The Warriors, of course, are out of the playoff race in the ultra-competitive West, but that won't stop them from at least putting some pressure on their opponents. Their offense remains one of the most explosive in the league, averaging more than 108 points per contest.
They have not been held under 100 points since January 31, including Tuesday's 118-94 victory over Minnesota. Stephen Jackson scored 23 points and Andris Biedrins added 10 and 13 boards to lead the way.
