Magic aim for third straight win vs. Nets

Mar 6, 2009 - 11:12 AM New Jersey (27-34) at Orlando (44-16) 7:00 p.m EST

ORLANDO, Florida (Ticker) -- The Orlando Magic will be attempting to post their third consecutive win when they face the New Jersey Nets on Friday.

The Magic have gone over 100 points in each of the last two games and seem to be getting used to Rafer Alston at the point.

Alston, who was acquired at the trade deadline to make up for Jameer Nelson being lost for the season, collected 15 points, six assists and six rebounds on Tuesday in a 111-99 win over the Orlando Magic. The veteran guard is averaging nearly 13 points since moving into the starting lineup on February 22.

The Nets were dispatched, 115-111, by the Boston Celtics on Wednesday after Paul Pierce gave the defending champions the lead with a 17-foot jumper with 21 seconds left.

New Jersey got 59 combined points out of Devin Harris and Vince Carter but had only two other players reach double figures - a problem that has become common on the Nets.

Orlando won the first meeting this season, 101-84, as Dwight Howard went off for 30 points and 16 rebounds.
