Surging Bobcats hope to keep rolling vs. Knicks

Mar 7, 2009 - 11:21 AM Charlotte (27-35) at New York (25-35) 7:30 p.m. EST

NEW YORK (Ticker) -- The Charlotte Bobcats have already equaled a franchise record with five consecutive wins. They will attempt to make it six straight when they face the New York Knicks on Saturday.

The Bobcats are making a push toward the first playoff berth in franchise history, currently sitting one game behind the Milwaukee Bucks (29-35) for the eighth and final spot in the Eastern Conference with 20 games left in their regular season.

Charlotte, which has yet to post a winning campaign in the five-season history of the franchise, posted a 98-91 win over the Atlanta Hawks on Friday. Three players - Raymond Felton, Boris Diaw and Emeka Okafor - recorded double-doubles and Gerald Wallace scored 21 points to lead the way.

The Knicks are also hoping for that last playoff spot, though their recent play has been nearly as sparkling as the Bobcats.

New York snapped a three-game slide with a 109-105 win over the Hawks on Wednesday but still allowed 52 percent shooting. The Knicks have yielded at least 100 points in 15 of the last 16 games, going 6-10 during that stretch.

New York has won both meetings this season.
