Surging Pistons set to face Knicks

AUBURN HILLS, Michigan (Ticker) -- Richard Hamilton is back in the starting lineup, and the Detroit Pistons are back to their winning ways.

The Pistons will be looking to post their sixth win in the last seven games when they face the New York Knicks on Wednesday.

Hamilton moved to the bench when coach Michael Curry began starting Allen Iverson and Rodney Stuckey in the backcourt in January. A 4-12 record with that alignment put Detroit on the verge of falling out of the playoff race.

Iverson's back injury gave Curry the excuse he needed to switch Hamilton back to the starting unit, and the team has responded by winning five of six. Hamilton has been the biggest offensive contributor during that span, averaging just under 25 points.

The Knicks are coming off a 120-112 win over the Milwaukee Bucks on Tuesday. Larry Hughes scored 39 points and Nate Robinson added 32 for New York, which had dropped five of six prior to the matchup with the Bucks.

The teams have split two meetings this season.
