Hornets aim to get back in win column vs. Wizards

Mar 11, 2009 - 6:15 AM New Orleans (39-23) at Washington (15-49) 7:00 p.m. EST

WASHINGTON (Ticker) -- The New Orleans Hornets hope to return to their winning ways Wednesday when they visit the Washington Wizards.

A visit to the Eastern Conference's worst team should help the Hornets, who had their season-high, seven-game winning snapped Monday in an 89-79 loss to the Atlanta Hawks.

Chris Paul had 24 points and 10 assists and David West added 16 points and 20 rebounds, but New Orleans got just seven points off the bench and was outscored 27-12 in the second quarter, blowing an early double-digit lead.

Washington ended its four-game road trip on a high note Monday, stopping a five-game skid with a 110-99 victory over Minnesota.

Caron Butler collected 27 points, 10 rebounds and six assists in the win.

The Wizards have won four straight at home against the Hornets, not having lost a meeting with New Orleans at the Verizon Center since April 14, 2004.
