Shorthanded Timberwolves host Grizzlies
Mar 11, 2009 - 6:16 AM Memphis (16-46) at Minnesota (18-45) 8:00 p.m. ESTMINNEAPOLIS (Ticker) -- Already missing leading scorer Al Jefferson for the season, the Minnesota Timberwolves will look to end a 10-game losing streak Wednesday without Randy Foye when they take on the Memphis Grizzlies.
Minnesota is expected to face Memphis sans Foye after he suffered a sprained right ankle in the fourth quarter of a 110-99 loss against Washington on Monday.
The second-year guard is averaging 16.9 points and 4.5 assists per game for the Timberwolves, who will be looking to sweep the three-game season series with the Grizzlies.
Memphis has lost 10 of its last 11 and is coming off a 93-83 loss at Houston, its first of four straight road games.
Rudy Gay led the way with 21 points while O.J. Mayo's struggled continued. The rookie scored just 10 points on 4-of-13 shooting, the 14th straight game he hit less than 50 percent from the field.
