Southern Utah tops Wayland Baptist 79-61
Nov 22, 2009 - 4:27 AM CEDAR CITY, Utah(AP) -- Ryan Brimley had 21 points and Davis Baker had 18 to lead Utah in a 79-61 victory over Wayland Baptist Saturday night.Baker also grabbed seven rebounds for the Thunderbirds (3-2) but committed a game-high five turnovers.
Rishi Kakad had a game-high 29 points to lead Wayland Baptist (3-3).
Southern Utah won despite committing 19 turnovers, nearly twice as many as the Pioneers, who converted them for 18 points. The Thunderbirds converted 10 Wayland turnovers for 15 points.
Southern Utah shot 54 percent (27 of 50) from the field, compared to 33 percent (20 of 61) for Wayland.
