Howard helps Montana State down Idaho State 70-63

Jan 3, 2010 - 11:29 PM POCATELLO, Idaho(AP) -- Led by 18 points and five assists from Bobby Howard, Montana State rallied to defeat Idaho State 70-63 Sunday.

The Bobcats (8-6, 3-1 Big Sky) squandered a 17-point first-half lead and a 10-point second-half edge before rallying to win.

The Bengals (4-11, 1-2) trailed 51-41 with 10:47 left but responded with an 18-3 run to take a 59-54 lead with 6:21 left. The scored was tied 59-59 with just under 5 minutes left before Montana State pulled away.

Branden Johnson and Danny Piepoli each scored 13 points for Montana State, and Will Bynum had 10 points and six rebounds.

Three Bengals had 15 points: Amorrow Morgan, Broderick Gilchrest and Chron Tatum. Morrow added 13 rebounds, and Gilchrest had five assists.

Idaho State outrebounded Montana State 38-25, but the Bengals had 15 turnovers to the Bobcats' seven.
