Army routs American 68-48
Jan 21, 2010 - 2:52 AM WEST POINT, N.Y.(AP) -- Josh Miller scored 14 points and Army routed American University 68-48 on Wednesday night.The Black Knights (12-6, 2-2 Patriot League) scored 27 points off 19 turnovers, and limited the Eagles (4-15, 1-3) to just nine assists.
Army led 29-17 at halftime after holding American to 23.8 percent shooting in the first half (5 of 21).
The Black Knights then shot 65.2 percent from the field in the second half (15 of 23), and got 11 points from Chris Walker.
Army led by as many as 19 points, 54-25, on Julian Simmons' layup with 12:14 remaining.
Walker finished with 14 points on 7 of 11 shooting and Jeremy Hence added 11 points
Vlad Moldoveanu had 22 points and was 9 of 16 from the field for American. The rest of the team was just 8 of 23 (34.8 percent).
American coach Jeff Jones was denied his 300th win.
