North Dakota beats UT-Pan American 78-74 in 2 OTs

Jan 29, 2010 - 5:17 AM EDINBURG, Texas(AP) -- Travis Bledsoe scored 24 points and Travis Mertens added 17 points and 11 rebounds as North Dakota beat Texas-Pan American 78-74 in double overtime on Thursday night.

With the game tied at 68-68 after the first extra session, the Fighting Sioux (4-16, 2-2 Great West) scored the game's next eight points on field goals by Mertens and Nick Haugen and four free throws.

The Broncs (3-19, 2-1) made a final push, as ChaRunn Jones' 3-pointer made it 76-74 with 20 seconds remaining in the second overtime. But two free throws by Dustin Monsebroten sealed it for North Dakota.

Luis Valera led Texas-Pan American with 19 points, and Jared Maree and Matt Mierzycki added 13 each.
