Arkansas-Pine Bluff tops Alabama State 47-42

Feb 9, 2010 - 5:16 AM PINE BLUFF, Ark.(AP) -- Tavaris Washington scored 16 points and Arkansas-Pine Bluff defeated Alabama State 47-42 Monday night.

Tyree Glass added 11 points and Lebaron Weathers 10 rebounds for the Golden Lions (8-14, 8-3 Southwestern Athletic).

Menji Mundadi led the Hornets (9-13, 6-5) with 17 points.

Pine Bluff held a 41-31 lead with 3:06 to play, but its advantage nearly evaporated over the next minute as Alabama State went on a 7-0 run, fueled by two layups from Byron Walker and a 3 by Mundadi.

Two free throws by Terrance Calvin ended the Hornets' run, and the Lions pushed their lead back to six in the final minute to secure the victory.

Pine Bluff led 23-14 at halftime and extended its lead to 11 in the second half.
