Bohannon has career-high 30 for No. 11 Wisconsin

MADISON, Wis.(AP) -- Trevon Hughes always thought Jason Bohannon was consistent. His backcourtmate could score one game, play defense in another and find the open man often.

Now he's doing it all at the same time.

The senior shooting guard hit seven 3-pointers and scored a career-high 30 points to help No. 11 Wisconsin rebound from a surprising home loss by routing Indiana 83-55 on Saturday.

"Jason was feeling it," Hughes said. "He's always seemed consistent to me with scoring and the defensive end. Now he's putting everything together throughout the game."

Hughes added 16 points and Wisconsin (19-6, 9-4 Big Ten) showed no lingering effects after a loss to Illinois on Tuesday, their first after 51 straight wins against unranked conference foes at home under coach Bo Ryan.

"I was getting open shots," Bohannon said. "I just had to knock them down."

He did, and Wisconsin pummeled Indiana (9-15, 3-9) from the start, handing the Hoosiers their worst loss this season. Indiana, which has dropped six straight, committed 21 turnovers.

Christian Watford scored 15 points on 4-of-12 shooting to lead the Hoosiers, who have lost their last three to Northwestern, Ohio State and Wisconsin by a combined 62 points.

"Obviously not very much went right for us today," said Indiana coach Tom Crean, now 3-7 against Ryan with the Hoosiers and Marquette. "I'm looking forward to the day we can come in this building and other buildings inside the Big Ten and really understand that the way we compete, the toughness that we bring, the defensive mindset that we bring is what's going to give us a chance to win."

Wisconsin still has a chance to win the regular-season Big Ten title. The Badgers remain one game behind Michigan State for first place. Either Illinois or Ohio State will join the Spartans at the top after their Sunday matchup, while Purdue is also in the mix in the five-team race.

The Badgers have arguably the easiest schedule remaining with their next four games against teams with losing conference records before a rematch with the Illini in Champaign, Ill., to end the regular season.

"We're playing every game like we have a chance. Why wouldn't we have a chance right now? That's the mindset we have and being only one game out, we've got to take one game at a time and focus," Bohannon said.

Wisconsin didn't look past Indiana.

Hughes opening the scoring with a 3 and reached double figures 5 1/2 minutes in as the Badgers raced to a 17-3 lead.

"We didn't put up much resistance," Indiana guard Daniel Moore said. "It was 20-5 or whatever the score was before we knew it."

The Hoosiers came in averaging 15.1 turnovers per game. Jeremiah Rivers committed a turnover on the first possession, Indiana had five before the midway point of the first half and 10 at halftime. Indiana committed offensive fouls on the first two possessions of the second half on its way to 21 turnovers.

"We're upset," Moore said. "We're getting sick of losing."

All the mistakes were more than enough for the Badgers, who thrive on efficient, methodical play and converted the errors into a 29-8 scoring advantage.

Bohannon, who went 7 of 11 from 3-point range, made two 3s in the first half around two free throws by Hughes. Jordan Taylor, who had 11 points, ran down an errant pass from Indiana's Jordan Hulls for an easy layup that made it 27-7.

Wisconsin led 46-24 at halftime and Bohannon scored 16 points after the break, leaving to a standing ovation with 4:34 to play with the Badgers leading by as many as 35 in the closing minutes.

Even some former teammates now in the NBA on All-Star break joined in the fun. Minnesota Timberwolves forward Alando Tucker was wearing Hughes' No. 3 jersey and New York Knicks forward Marcus Landry donned Bohannon's No. 12. They badgered Hughes and Bohannon, who have each won 100 games in their college careers.

"I didn't really notice it all until the end," Bohannon said. "(Landry) was yelling at me behind the bench with about a minute-and-a-half left in the game and holding up the jersey. ... It was really good to see both of those guys."
