Oral Roberts surges past Western Illinois 74-62

Jan 17, 2010 - 3:29 AM MACOMB, Ill.(AP) -- Three players scored 15 points apiece and Oral Roberts spurted midway through the second half to defeat Western Illinois 74-62 Saturday night.

Kevin Ford had 15 points and 10 rebounds for the Golden Eagles (10-9, 5-3 Summit League), who also got 15 apiece from Warren Niles and Dominique Morrison. Michael Craion had a double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds.

The Leathernecks (7-10, 1-6) had two 13-point scorers in Ceola Clark and Quenton Kirby.

Oral Roberts led 42-39 with 11:05 to go when Craion committed a foul, sparking coach Scott Sutton to argue the call. The bench was assessed two technicals, Sutton was ejected and David Nurse sank 5 of the 6 free throws to put Western Illinois ahead 44-42.

But the Golden Eagles responded with a 9-2 run, which ended with 7:59 left on Morrison's basket to make it 51-46. Western Illinois never led again.
