Wichita State routs Indiana State

Feb 12, 2015 - 4:16 AM Wichita, KS (SportsNetwork.com) - Fred VanVleet had 21 points, six rebounds and three steals in the 15th-ranked Wichita State Shockers' 74-57 rout of the Indiana State Sycamores on Wednesday.

Darius Carter added 17 points and seven boards for the Shockers (22-3, 12-1 MVC), who have won 30 in a row at home. Tekele Cotton tallied 16 points.

Tre' Bennett ended with 11 points for the Sycamores (12-13, 8-5), who shot just 34.8 percent from the field. Devonte Brown contributed 10 points on just 1-of-7 shooting.

Trailing 14-10, the Shockers used a 26-6 run to gain control. VanVleet tallied 12 points during the surge to give Wichita State a 36-20 edge with 1:17 left in the first half. It was 38-24 at the break.

The two teams traded baskets early in the second half. Ahead 57-44, Wichita State scored 10 straight points to put the game out of reach.

The Shockers led by as many as 24 down the stretch.

The Sycamores went 22-of-33 from the foul line ... Indiana State turned the ball over 15 times, leading to 19 Wichita State points ... Indiana State returns home to play Drake on Saturday, while the Shockers head to Illinois State on Saturday night.
