No. 5 Duke hosts Temple in final tuneup before ACC opener

Jan 2, 2007 - 3:52 PM Temple (6-5) at No. 5 Duke (12-1) 7:00 pm EST

DURHAM, North Carolina (Ticker) -- With the Atlantic Coast Conference schedule looming, Duke needs to avoid looking past its next opponent.

The fifth-ranked Blue Devils try to extend the nation's longest home-court winning streak against non-conference foes to 51 when they host Temple on Tuesday.

Duke has won eight consecutive games since falling to Marquette at the CBE Classic on November 21. However, the Blue Devils have not reached 80 points during that stretch.

Off to a 10-0 home start for the ninth time in 10 seasons, the Blue Devils are limiting their opponents to an average of 53.3 points.

Josh McRoberts scored 15 points and grabbed a career-high 17 rebounds, DeMarcus Nelson had 13 points and Greg Paulus added 12 for the Blue Devils in Sunday's 70-51 triumph over San Jose State.

Temple has won six of its last nine games under first-year coach Fran Dunphy, who lost at Cameron Indoor Stadium with Pennsylvania, 72-59, on December 7, 2005.

Dionte Christmas scored 22 points, Mark Tyndale added 16 off the bench and Dustin Salisbury 14 for the Owls in Saturday's 83-65 loss to Villanova.

Duke has won the last six encounters against Temple since January 25, 1996.
