No. 15 Nevada aims for sixth straight win in WAC opener

Jan 6, 2007 - 4:44 PM Idaho (2-11) at No. 15 Nevada (12-1) 10:05 pm EST

RENO, Nevada (Ticker) -- Star Nick Fazekas and Nevada look to continue their dominance against the Western Athletic Conference.

The 15th-ranked Wolf Pack begin their quest for a fourth consecutive conference title as they welcome in lowly Idaho on Saturday.

Fazekas had 24 points and nine rebounds, Marcelus Kemp scored 21 points and Ramon Sessions added 20 as Nevada edged Gonzaga, 82-74, in the "Battle in Seattle" last Saturday.

The Wolf Pack have won five straight games and are off to their best start in 55 years, tying the 1932 and 1952 squads.

Keoni Watson scored 17 points and Darin Neagle pulled down 15 rebounds for Idaho, which dropped a 60-41 decision to Fresno State in its conference opener on Thursday.

Despite their worst start since 1971-72, the Vandals have not allowed an opponent to reach the 100-point plateau in 443 consecutive games, dating to November 14, 1991.

Nevada has won the last three meetings, including a 70-44 thrashing here on January 12, 2006. The Wolf Pack lead the all-time series, 26-21.
