UCLA looks to continue home success against Arizona State

Jan 18, 2007 - 4:49 PM Arizona St (6-11) at No. 2 UCLA (15-1) 10:30 pm EST

LOS ANGELES (Ticker) -- There's no place like home for UCLA.

After completing a tough three-game road swing, the second-ranked Bruins will play the first of two straight home contests when they host Arizona State on Thursday.

Entering its road game at Oregon State on January 4, UCLA had yet to play a true road contest on its way to a 13-0 record. But after beating the Beavers, the Bruins were defeated, 68-66, at then-No. 16 Oregon and barely squeaked by rival USC on Saturday.

However, UCLA (15-1, 4-1 Pac-10) is playing five of its next seven games at home, where it is 9-0 this season and 35-6 since the start of the 2004-05 campaign.

The Bruins will take on the Sun Devils (6-11, 0-6), who have struggled this season and are just 5-24 on the road against UCLA all time. They also have lost five of the last nine overall meetings with the Bruins.

Losers of seven straight games, Arizona State has not played well this season. They are the only winless team in the Pac-10 under first-year coach Herb Sendek, who came from North Carolina State to turn around the program.

On Saturday, Arizona State was defeated by Oregon State, 67-59. Jeff Pendergraph had 19 points and 10 rebounds in the loss.
