Northern Colorado defeats Air Force 70-46
Nov 22, 2009 - 5:33 AM AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo.(AP) --Devon Beitzel had a season-high 26 points to lead Northern Colorado to a 70-46 win over Air Force in the championship game of the Reggie Minton Air Force Classic at Clune Arena Saturday night.The victory ended the Bears' 12-game losing streak to the Falcons (2-1) and was Northern Colorado's first win over Air Force in more than 50 years. Northern Colorado's last win over Air Force came on Feb. 16, 1957.
Northern Colorado (5-0) scored the first 12 points of the game, with Air Force's first basket coming at the 14:08 mark. The Falcons were 0-for-17 from 3-point range and shot just 32.6 percent from the field in the loss.
The Bears shot just 36.4 percent from the field in the first half, but still took a 33-21 lead into the locker room.
Evan Washington led Air Force with 14 points.
