No. 13 Nevada looks for fourth straight 20-win season

Jan 31, 2007 - 3:15 PM No. 13 Nevada (19-2) at Louisiana Tech (6-14) 8:00 pm EST

RUSTON, Louisiana (Ticker) -- Nick Fazekas appears to be fully recovered from a sprained ankle, which could spell bad news for Louisiana Tech.

Fazekas looks to lead No. 15 Nevada to its third straight victory and 13th in 14 outings Wednesday when it faces Louisiana Tech in a Western Athletic Conference matchup.

The two-time reigning WAC Player of the Year, Fazekas missed two games earlier this month with his ankle injury. Averaging 20.2 points and 11.7 rebounds, he scored just 13 points in Thursday's 84-67 home win over the Bulldogs.

However, Fazekas had one of his best overall outings of the campaign in Saturday's 79-62 triumph over Utah State. The 6-11 senior scored 24 points on 9-of-17 shooting and tied a season high with 18 rebounds.

The Wolf Pack (19-2, 7-1 WAC) are tied for first place in the standings with New Mexico State while Louisiana Tech (6-14, 4-4) has dropped four of its last six games.

The Bulldogs hope to bounce back from Saturday's 70-64 defeat to Fresno State. Chad McKenzie scored 15 points with 11 rebounds and Keith Smith added a career-high 14 points for Louisiana Tech, which shot 37.7 percent (26-of-69) from the floor.

Nevada has won eight consecutive encounters against Louisiana Tech and five of six road meetings.
