Wichita State routs South Carolina-Upstate 72-45

Dec 6, 2009 - 3:42 AM WICHITA, Kan.(AP) -- Graham Hatch scored a career-high 21 points to lead Wichita State to a 72-45 victory over South Carolina-Upstate on Saturday night.

Wichita State (7-1) shot 41 percent from the field. Hatch was the only double-digit scorer for the Shockers.

The Spartans (1-6) were led by Ryan LeGates, who had nine points off the bench.

The Shockers scored 19 points in the first 10 minutes of the game while holding the Spartans to just five.

The Spartans never threatened the lead, which was cut to single digits only once after that. The Shockers were ahead by as many as 30 points in the second half.

Hatch scored 13 of his points in the last six minutes of the first period and hit two of his five 3-pointers in its last minute to push the Shockers to a 41-22 lead at halftime.
