Dayton pulls away to beat Appalachian State, 65-49

Dec 22, 2009 - 3:40 AM DAYTON, Ohio(AP) -- Mickey Perry scored 15 points and Chris Wright added 14 as Dayton defeated Appalachian State 65-49 on Monday night.

Dayton (9-2), which shot just 35.6 percent from the field (22 of 57), used two strong scoring stretches en route to its seventh straight win and 26th straight win at home.

The Flyers built a 22-12 lead in the opening 8 minutes, and later used an 28-8 run for a 61-46 advantage on Perry's 3-pointer with 2:08 left to play.

Dayton forced 17 turnovers and held the Mountaineers (7-5) to 35.6 percent shooting (16 of 45).

The Flyers shot just 58.3 percent from the free throw line (14 of 24), as they were without two of their top three scorers.

Marcus Wright scored 15 points off the bench for the Mountaineers and Donald Sims scored all 13 of his points in the first half.
