Illinois State beats Wichita State, 72-57
Dec 30, 2009 - 3:51 AM NORMAL, Ill.(AP) -- Osiris Eldridge scored 26 points to lead Illinois State past Wichita State 72-57 in the Missouri Valley Conference opener for both teams Tuesday night.Tony Lewis had 13 points and eight rebounds for the Redbirds (10-2) and Alex Rubin scored 10 points. Illinois State trailed 30-29 at halftime but Eldridge hit four of his six 3-pointers in the second half to help his team open up a double-digit lead.
Wichita State (11-2) had three players in double figures. Gabe Blair had 12 points, Clevin Hannah 11 and J.T. Durley 10. The Shockers never led by more than two points in the game.
Dinma Odiakosa had nine points and eight rebounds for the Redbirds.
