Self can record his 300th career victory Saturday when the eighth-ranked Jayhawks face Missouri in a Big 12 Conference showdown.
Looking to become the 53rd active Division I coach with 300 wins, Self is 92-28 in four seasons at Kansas. The reigning Big 12 Coach of the Year, who also worked at Tulsa and Illinois, is 299-133 overall.
The Jayhawks (20-4, 7-2 Big 12) have won 20 games in 18 consecutive campaigns and have taken 14 of their last 16 contests. They are one game in back of Texas A&M for the top spot in the conference.
Kansas bounced back from Saturday's loss to the Aggies with Wednesday's 97-70 triumph over Kansas State. Brandon Rush scored 18 points and Darrell Arthur had 14 for the Jayhawks, who opened with a 15-2 run.
The Tigers (14-8, 3-6) have dropped six of their last nine and are tied with Iowa State for ninth place in the Big 12.
Coach Mike Anderson has guided Missouri to two more victories than last season and can tie George Bond (1922-1923) and Wilbur Stalcup (1946-1947) for the fourth-highest victory total by a first-year coach in school history.
The Tigers ended a two-game skid with Tuesday's 77-55 triumph over the Cyclones. Stefon Hannah scored 15 points and Matt Lawrence had 13 for Missouri, which shot 67 percent (18-of-27) from the floor in the second half.
