Self earns 300th victory in Kansas' rout of Missouri

Feb 11, 2007 - 2:06 AM COLUMBIA, Missouri (Ticker) -- Julian Wright's best collegiate performance overwhelmed Missouri and helped Bill Self reach a milestone.

Wright scored a career-high 33 points and grabbed 12 rebounds to lead eighth-ranked Kansas to a 92-74 rout over the Tigers in Big 12 Conference play.

Brandon Rush scored 21 points and freshman Sherron Collins added 14 for the Jayhawks, who shot 54 percent (35-of-65) in helping Self become the 53rd active Division I coach with 300 wins. He is 93-28 in his four seasons at Kansas.

Kansas (21-4, 8-2 Big 12) used a 12-1 run, capped by Rush's 3-pointer with 5:27 left in the first half to open a 32-18 lead.

The Jayhawks led, 47-33, at the half and continued their dominance over the final 20 minutes. They used a 13-1 spurt, highlighted by Wright's layup with 10:20 remaining, for a 73-48 bulge.

Stefhon Hannah netted 19 points on 7-of-15 shooting for the Tigers (14-9, 3-7), who shot 42 percent (27-of-65), including a dismal 8-of-30 from 3-point range.

This year marked the 100th anniversary of the "Border Showdown" rivalry, played March 11, 1907. Kansas lost the initial meeting 34-31 but holds a 164-93 all-time record in the series.
