Tulane holds off Rice 72-58

Jan 14, 2010 - 4:15 AM NEW ORLEANS(AP) -- Kris Richard scored 23 points, leading four Tulane players in double figures as the Green Wave beat Rice 72-58 on Wednesday night.

Richard connected on 8 of 12 shots from the floor for the Green Wave (6-10, 1-2 Conference USA), including a pair of 3-pointers.

Eric Vianney added 14 points on four of five from the floor, all from 3-point range, and Johnny Mayhane equaled his career high with 11 points for Tulane. Asim McQueen also chipped in with 10 points.

Tulane made 10 of 21 3-point attempts (47.6 percent), while Rice was just 4 of 12 from long range (33.3 percent).

The Green Wave built a 29-20 lead by halftime, and their largest lead of the game, 64-47, came with 3:03 left after a Vianney 3-pointer.

Arsalan Kazemi and Lucas Kuipers scored 11 points apiece for the Owls (6-10, 0-3), who have lost four straight.

Tulane snapped a three-game losing streak.
