Vanderbilt seeks to follow up win over Florida

The Commodores (18-8, 8-4 SEC East) will try to improve their NCAA tournament resume with a victory over Mississippi State on Wednesday in a Southeastern Conference contest.
Mississippi State (15-10, 6-6 SEC West) has won three games in a row to pull to .500 in the SEC West. The Bulldogs beat Louisiana State, 56-50, in their last game behind 15 points apiece from co-captains Jamont Gordon and Charles Rhodes.
Vanderbilt was led by forwards Shan Foster and Derrick Byars, who each scored 24 points in an 83-70 victory over Florida. The win was the first for the Commodores against a top-ranked team since beating Kentucky in January 1993.
The Bulldogs will need to finish the season strong to have a shot at an NCAA tournament bid. A win over Vanderbilt would move Mississippi State into first place in the SEC West.
This will be the only meeting of the season between the teams.
