Butler hosts Detroit in season finale

Feb 24, 2007 - 3:19 PM Detroit (11-17) at No. 15 Butler (25-5) 2:00 pm EST

INDIANAPOLIS (Ticker) -- Coach Todd Lickliter and Butler would like to end their outstanding regular season on a positive note.

The 15th-ranked Bulldogs aim to bounce back from a disappointing loss Saturday when they host Horizon League rival Detroit in their season finale.

Butler (25-5, 12-3 Horizon) needs one conference win to tie first-place Wright State, which already has clinched the No. 1 seed in the league tournament.

The Bulldogs have been very inconsistent lately after having their nine-game winning streak ended on January 10, alternating wins since.

Most recently, A.J. Graves scored 24 points and Mike Green chipped in 23 but Butler still suffered a 75-71 setback to Loyola on Thursday.

The Titans (11-17, 6-9) picked up their second straight win with Wednesday's 60-48 triumph over Cleveland State. Senior Ryvon Covile had 22 points and 13 rebounds to pace Detroit.

Detroit has lost its last seven trips to Butler's Hinkle Fieldhouse, where the Bulldogs are an impressive 69-13 under Lickliter.
