Tennessee Tech edges Austin Peay 68-65 in OVC
Mar 3, 2010 - 4:33 AM CLARKSVILLE, Tenn.(AP) -- Kevin Murphy had 18 points and hit the game-winning 3-pointer with 6 seconds left to give Tennessee Tech a 68-65 win over Austin Peay on Tuesday night in the first round of the Ohio Valley Conference tournament.The Golden Eagles (15-16), seeded sixth, rallied from an eight-point deficit with 13:09 left and led the third-seeded Governors 56-51 with 6:09 to go.
Austin Peay (17-15) pulled ahead 57-56, then Tennessee Tech regained the lead on a layup by Alfred Jones, who also scored 18 points.
Anthony Campbell's 3-pointer with 8 seconds left made it 65-65, then Murphy hit his decisive shot to send the Golden Eagles into a semifinal game Friday against Morehead State, which defeated Jacksonville State 87-54.
Tennessee Tech shot 65.5 percent (19-for-29) in the second half while the Governors shot 61.9 percent (13-for-21).
Campbell scored 16 to lead Austin Peay.
