Thomas, Huskies rout Virginia

Nov 23, 2010 - 7:36 AM Maui, HI (Sports Network) - Isaiah Thomas scored 18 points and pulled down six rebounds, as the 13th-ranked Washington Huskies annihilated the Virginia Cavaliers, 106-63, in the opening round of the Maui Invitational.

C.J. Wilcox added 17 points off the bench for the Huskies (3-0), who are making their first-ever appearance in this event. Terrence Ross and Abdul Gaddy each chipped in with 12 points.

Justin Holiday tallied 11 points, nine rebounds, and six steals for Washington, which will face Kentucky in the semifinals on Tuesday.

Joe Harris had 19 points and seven rebounds to pace the Cavaliers (2-2), who are making their fourth appearance in this event. K.T. Harrell finished with 14 points.

Virginia will play Oklahoma on Tuesday.

Holding a 16-13 lead, the Huskies took control of the game with a 21-4 run. Wilcox made a pair of three-pointers during the burst, which Thomas capped with a trey for a 37-17 margin.

Gaddy made a pair of jumpers before the half to give Washington a 55-31 advantage.

The Huskies cruised to victory in the second half.

Game Notes

These teams had met just once previously, and that contest back in 1984 was won by the Cavaliers...Virginia is now 5-4 all-time at this tournament...Wilcox went 4-of-6 from beyond the arc.
