Olukemi leads OSU to comeback win over K-State

Jan 8, 2011 - 9:57 PM Stillwater, OK (Sports Network) - Jean-Paul Olukemi came off the bench to provide a spark with a career-high 22 points and 11 rebounds to lead Oklahoma State to a 76-62 comeback victory over 17th-ranked Kansas State in the conference opener for both schools at Gallagher-Iba Arena.

Marshall Moses supplied 16 points and nine rebounds and Keiton Page added 16 points for the Cowboys (13-2, 1-0 Big 12), who have won two straight and nine of their last 10.

Oklahoma State has won 15 of the last 16 meetings on home hardwood.

Jacob Pullen scored 20 points and Rodney McGruder chipped in with 19 points and six boards for the Wildcats (12-4, 0-1), who had won three in a row coming into the contest.

Trailing 20-18, Kansas State scored 10 of the next 11 points to forge a 28-21 lead inside of 3 1/2 minutes to go in the first half.

OSU then ran off the next seven points to create a tie at the intermission.

Two free throws apiece by Pullen and Wally Judge sandwiched around a McGruder triple extended the visitors' lead to 49-41 with just under 9 1/2 minutes to play.

Olukemi converted a three-point play to finish an 8-0 burst that evened the game 74 seconds later.

After the Wildcats pulled head 54-52 on two Nick Russell free throws, OSU fashioned an 11-0 run to move in front for good with 4:46 to play. Olukemi started the surge with a layup and finished it off with a triple.

Four Ray Penn free throws and another by Olukemi made it 68-56 with 2 1/2 minutes to play. Kansas State finally ended a nearly eight-minute drought without a bucket on the next possession when McGruder canned a jump shot.

Penn made four more foul shots and Olukemi's jumper put the finishing touches on the win over the final 1 1/2 minutes.

Olukemi was 7-of-9 from the field and 7-of-12 at the line...OSU made 32-of-43 from the stripe while K-State connected on 24-of-31 at the line...The Cowboys turned 21 forced turnovers into 27 points while the Wildcats managed only eight points off 10 OSU miscues...Kansas State shot 34.8 percent from the floor, including a 6-for-21 performance from long distance...Each team managed only six assists...Kansas State leads the all-time series, 70-47...The Wildcats' last win in Stillwater was January 9, 1993.
