Final
Aggies dominate Oklahoma State
Jan 13, 2011 - 6:56 AM College Station, TX (Sports Network) - Nathan Walkup and David Loubeau both scored 16 points and No. 14 Texas A&M rolled to a 71-48 win over Oklahoma State at Reed Arena.Khris Middleton and Dash Harris notched nine points each for the Aggies (15-1, 2-0 Big 12), who have 12 straight victories since their lone loss to Boston College on November 25. Harris also chipped in seven rebounds.
"We worked real hard on defense in practice, Oklahoma State has great shooters," Walkup said. "We knew they were going to be physical. We had to come out and match their physicality. We knew we had to beat them on boards and play tough defense, and I think we did that tonight."
Ray Penn scored 11 points and dished out four assists for Oklahoma State (13-3, 1-1), which had a two-game winning streak snapped. Marshall Moses recorded a double-double with 12 rebounds and 10 points in defeat.
"We didn't execute. They executed, we didn't,' Moses said. "They took away one option, then the second option, and we didn't know what to do after that. Guys were taking shots when they shouldn't have been."
Oklahoma State rushed out to a 6-0 lead, but the Aggies respond with a better nine-point burst ended by Middleton's layup.
Minutes later, Loubeau's jam gave Texas A&M a 21-20 edge. The home team kept that slim margin until B.J. Holmes made a three-pointer with two minutes left and Loubeau ended the first-half scoring with a layup to give the home team a 35-29 advantage.
The Cowboys made it a three-point game, 43-40, five minutes into the second half thanks to a six-point burst ended by a Markel Brown free throw. Andrew Darko answered with a three-pointer and Texas A&M cruised from there.
The Aggies finished the contest with an 11-0 run for the final margin. Loubeau started the run with a jumper and Kourtney Roberson ended it on a free throw with just over a minute left.
