Murray State routs Lipscomb, moves to 11-0
Dec 16, 2011 - 3:44 AM Murray, KY (Sports Network) - Ivan Aska and Ed Daniel contributed 16 points and four rebounds apiece, as No. 24 Murray State rolled past Lipscomb, 89-65 on Thursday night.Isaiah Canaan scored 13 points to go with five assists, while Jewuan Long added 11 points and five assists for the Racers, who remained perfect on the season at 11-0. Stacy Wilson scored 10 points off the bench in the win.
Malcolm Smith paced the Bison (6-6) with 13 points, while Robert Boyd scored nine points and Jordan Burgason and Deonte Alexander donated eight points apiece. Lipscomb has lost two straight contests.
Murray State got off to a quick start, leading 14-5 just under six minutes into the game, before a layup by Smith finally stopped the run and pulled Lipscomb within seven.
The Bison then used a 7-2 run to make it a two-point game, 16-14, with just under 12 minutes to go in the opening half. But, the Racers responded with six straight points, capped by a Wilson three-pointer, to go up 22-14 with 9 1/2 minutes to play in the half.
Leading 29-23 with less than five minutes left in the half, Murray State went on an 11-0 run to take a 40-23 lead with 2:26 to go before halftime.
The Racers took a 45-29 lead into the locker room at the break.
Already leading by a sizeable margin, 47-35, early in the second half, the Racers used an 18-1 run to put some serious distance between the teams, making it 65-36 with 13:05 to go in regulation.
A jumper by Aska with 7:47 left put the Racers up by a comfortable 32-point margin, 79-47, and they cruised the rest of the way.

Thursday marked the first-ever meeting between these two programs...Murray State has won 11 straight home games and 13 games in a row against non- conference opponents...The Racers shot 57 percent from the floor, while the Bison shot 44 percent...Murray State outrebounded Lipscomb, 33-29...Murray State will put its perfect mark on the line again on Saturday against Arkansas State, while Lipscomb will battle Memphis on December 19...The Racers dominated inside, outscoring Lipscomb 52-24 in the paint...Murray State converted 23 Lipscomb turnovers into 37 points.
