San Jose State fires men's hoops coach
Mar 13, 2013 - 5:58 PM San Jose, CA (Sports Network) - San Jose State has fired head men's basketball coach George Nessman after a second straight disappointing campaign."George Nessman worked hard to create an environment for our student-athletes to be successful. We thank him for all his contributions to San Jose State and wish him the best," athletic director Gene Bleymaier said in a statement Wednesday, one day after the Spartans' season ended with a loss to UTSA in the first round of the WAC Tournament.
The Spartans posted just nine wins in each of the last two seasons.
Nessman, who took over in 2005 and led the program to the 2011 College Basketball Invitational, had an 86-161 record during his tenure.
