Verlin replaces Thomason at Pacific
Mar 27, 2013 - 4:26 AM Stockton, CA (Sports Network) - Pacific didn't look far to tab its next men's head basketball coach, hiring Ron Verlin as Bob Thomason's replacement on Tuesday.Verlin was the associate head coach for the last 19 years at Pacific under Thomason, who announced last May this past season would be his last.
"Ron will be able to continue coach Thomason's remarkable legacy while also bringing his own great ideas and style to our program," Pacific president Pamela A. Eibeck said.
With Verlin by his Thomason's side, Pacific reached the NCAA Tournament five times, won seven Big West Conference titles and earned 354 wins.
"I am very proud of the history and tradition of Pacific Basketball and feel very fortunate to have worked for and learned from coach Bob Thomason over the past 19 years," Verlin said. "Coach Thomason has been a great friend and mentor. I am proud to be a Tiger and excited to continue my career at Pacific."
