Summers, Ole Miss top Creighton

Nov 29, 2014 - 3:43 AM Niceville, FL (SportsNetwork.com) - Jarvis Summers scored 23 points and Ladarius White added 18 off the bench as Ole Miss took down No. 23 Creighton, 75-68, to reach the finals of the Emerald Coast Classic.

Creighton led 65-63 with two minutes to play. The Rebels then scored eight unanswered points to pull away.

Martavious Newby canned a 3-pointer at 1:44 and M.J. Rhett followed with a turnaround jumper from the left block. Devin Brooks was off the mark with a potential game-tying 3, and Ole Miss went 7-of-8 from the foul line down the stretch to secure the game.

Rhett and Newby scored nine points apiece for Ole Miss (4-1), which will meet Cincinnati in Saturday's final.

Isaiah Zierden made five 3s and scored 18 points for Creighton (5-1), which opened 5-0 last season as well before losing its sixth game. Austin Chatman finished with 15 points and seven assists and Brooks netted 14 in the setback.

Summers got off to a hot start, hitting his first three shots from the field -- including a pair of 3-pointers -- and two free throws in the first seven minutes of the game.

Ole Miss led 16-10 at that point before the Bluejays rattled off 14 straight. Chatman's layup started the flurry, which included three free throws and a 3- pointer from Zierden and two Brooks triples.

Creighton held its lead until Stefan Moody's 3-ball 3 1/3 minutes into the second half. It was a see-saw affair the rest of the way, with neither team leading by more than seven.
