Turnovers cost Missouri in loss to Arkansas

Feb 19, 2015 - 4:54 AM Fayetteville, AR (SportsNetwork.com) - Michael Qualls scored 21 points and hit four 3-pointers in No. 18 Arkansas' 84-69 win over Missouri.

The Razorbacks (21-5, 9-3 SEC) scored 18 points off 20 Missouri turnovers and were 10-for-22 from long distance. Bobby Portis scored 16 with nine rebounds and Anton Beard added 13 points with five assists.

The Tigers (7-19, 1-12) lost their 12th straight game despite getting 13 points and 10 boards from Johnathan Williams III. Tramaine Isabell equaled Williams for the team lead with 13 points, while Montaque Gill-Caesar and Jakeenan Grant each scored 11 in the loss.

Isabell's 3-pointer near the midpoint of the first half gave Missouri a three-point lead, but the Tigers would not score for the next seven minutes, allowing the Razorbacks to build a 12-point lead.

The run was ended by Gant's jumper with 3:25 to play, and he scored five more points to close the half with the Razorbacks leading 37-29.

The Razorbacks got 3-pointers from three different players in a 13-3 run to open the second half. Rashad Madden's capped the run that gave Arkansas a game-high 18-point lead.

Missouri shot 50 percent, but it could not get the stops necessary to pull within single digits the rest of the game. The Tigers hit six straight shots in a 3 1/2 minute span after Arkansas went up 18, but the Razorbacks always had an answer at the other end.

Arkansas has won 27 games in a row when leading at halftime ... Missouri fell to 0-7 in road games ... The Razorbacks now lead the all-time series, 22-21 ... At halftime, Arkansas honored former two-time All-American Corliss Williamson ... Each team will play on the road for its next game with Arkansas heading to Mississippi State and Missouri going to Vanderbilt.
