Young, Pittsburgh look to continue solid start

Nov 11, 2007 - 2:14 PM Saint Louis (2-0) at No. 20 Pittsburgh (2-0) 6:00 pm EST

PITTSBURGH (Ticker) - No. 20 Pittsburgh looks for its 23 consecutive victory at home against a non-conference opponent when it hosts St. Louis on Sunday.

Sam Young led an early 3-point barrage and the Panthers had no problem extending their home winning streak Saturday in Saturday's 88-61 rout of North Carolina A&T. Young scored 17 of his 24 points in the first half.

Young had three of the seven first-half 3-pointers for the Panthers, who have won 22 straight games in the month of November. They have not lost in the opening month of the season since November 25, 2001, at South Florida.

After averaging 7.2 points and 3.0 rebounds per game in 2006-07, Young has scored 46 points and grabbed 20 rebounds over his first to games this season. The junior forward is also 20-of-29 (.690) from the field.

DeJuan Blair is also having a good start to his freshman campaign, scoring 30 points on 13-of-15 shooting this season.

Rick Majerus will look to come up with a major upset victory in his third game as the St. Louis coach. He will get help from junior guard Kevin Litsh, who has registered 38 points on 13-of-19 shooting over the first two games.

The Billikens have won each of their three previous meetings with the Panthers, but they have not played them since the 1958-59 season. Continuing the streak against Pittsburgh will be tough, though, as they are 49-1 at the Petersen Events Center against non-Big East schools.
