Memphis takes on Oklahoma in 2K Sports College Hoops Classic

NEW YORK (Ticker) -- Memphis and Oklahoma will each travel away from home for the first time this season when the schools meet in the semifinals of the 2K Sports College Hoops Classic.

Third-ranked Memphis, which has won 33 games each of the past two seasons, defeated Tennessee-Martin and Richmond in the first two rounds of this tournament on its home court.

Freshman guard Derrick Rose averaged 19.5 points and 5.5 rebounds in his first two collegiate games while junior Chris Douglas-Roberts leads the team with 23.5 points per game.

Oklahoma advanced to Madison Square Garden with wins over San Francisco and Denver at home. The Sooners also defeated Alcorn State, 99-59, in Norman on Monday.

Freshman Blake Griffin is averaging 16.3 points and 9.0 rebounds per game to lead the Sooners and coach Jeff Capel, who is in his second season.

The Tigers are 5-0 all-time against the Sooners, including a 77-65 victory last season.

The winner will meet either Gardner-Webb or Connecticut in the finals on Friday.
