Texas faces New Mexico State in Legends semifinal

Nov 23, 2007 - 3:02 PM No. 16 Texas (3-0) vs. New Mexico St (2-2) 7:00 pm EST

NEWARK, New Jersey (Ticker) -- A berth in the championship game of the inaugural Legends Classic will be on the line Friday when No. 16 Texas faces off with New Mexico State.

As two of the regional hosts, both teams automatically advanced to the semifinal round.

The Longhorns hold a 2-1 advantage in the all-time series, including a 79-67 victory over the Aggies in a first-round NCAA tournament game.

Despite the loss of No. 2 overall draft pick Kevin Durant to the NBA, Texas is unbeaten through three games for the fourth time in the last six years.

Junior guard A.J. Abrams leads the Longhorns in scoring at 20.7 points per game and is coming off a career-high 30 points in Texas' 100-52 victory over Arkansas-Monticello.

Sophomore guard D.J. Augustin is averaging 12.3 points and a team-high 7.0 assists for the Longhorns.

New Mexico State has won its last two games, both in the regional rounds of the tournament.
