Gonzaga, Texas Tech try to advance to finals in Alaska
Nov 23, 2007 - 4:32 PM Texas Tech (3-1) at No. 14 Gonzaga (4-0) 12:00 am ESTANCHORAGE, Alaska (Ticker) -- After surviving a major scare, Gonzaga hopes for an easier time against its next unranked opponent.
The 14th-ranked Bulldogs battle Texas Tech on Friday for the right to advance to the finals at the Great Alaska Shootout.
Gonzaga cruised through its first three games at home, winning by 23, 37 and 36 points respectively over Montana, Idaho and UC Riverside.
But the Bulldogs got a wake-up call Thursday when they edged Western Kentucky, 74-71, after the game was tied with just four minutes left to play.
Gonzaga continued to struggle from 3-point range Thursday, making just 2-of-9 shots from the arc. The Bulldogs are shooting just 24 percent (11-of-46) from 3-point range this season.
Texas Tech, meanwhile, excelled in their first game, downing host Alaska-Anchorage, 74-47, on Thursday as freshman John Roberson led the way with 22 points while hitting six 3-pointers.
