Gonzaga looks to bounce back after loss against Virginia Tech
Nov 24, 2007 - 3:04 PM Virginia Tech (2-1) at No. 14 Gonzaga (4-1) 10:00 pm ESTANCHORAGE, Alaska (Ticker) - After nearly pulling off an upset on Friday, Virginia Tech will get another shot at a ranked opponent on Saturday.
The Hokies will take on No. 14 Gonzaga in the third-place game of the Great Alaska Shootout.
Virginia Tech was defeated, 84-78, in overtime by Butler despite shooting 53 percent.
Freshman Jeff Allen leads the Hokies, averaging 17.3 points.
Unlike Butler, Gonzaga could not avoid the upset on Friday, dropping a 73-63 decision to Texas Tech.
Second-leading scorer Jeremy Pargo was held to just two points in the loss, as Gonzaga failed to score at least 74 points for the first time this season.
Freshman Austin Daye leads the Bulldogs in scoring, averaging 14.0 points.
