Butler, Texas Tech square off for title in Alaska
Nov 24, 2007 - 3:07 PM No. 23 Butler (5-0) at Texas Tech (4-1) 12:30 am ESTANCHORAGE, Alaska (Ticker) -- Texas Tech tries to upset its second ranked opponent in as many nights on Saturday when it faces 23rd-ranked Butler in the final of the Great Alaska Shootout.
Texas Tech had no trouble advancing on Friday, posting a 73-63 victory over No. 14 Gonzaga. The Red Raiders closed the first half on a 17-5 run, then took control by scoring the first seven points when they emerged from the locker room.
Texas Tech has won three straight games since dropping its second contest of the season, 56-54, to Sam Houston State on November 14.
Butler struggled to advance against Virginia Tech on Friday, eventually claiming a 84-78 triumph in overtime as Mike Green scored 12 of his 23 points in the extra session to lead his team to victory.
Pete Campbell led Bulter with 26 points and made seven 3-pointers in the contest. The Bulldogs have been red-hot from the arc this season, making at least 10 3-pointers in all four of their games.
