Burrell, Xavier look for revenge against Creighton
Dec 5, 2007 - 2:10 PM Creighton (5-0) at No. 20 Xavier (6-1) 8:00 pm ESTCINCINNATI (Ticker) -- Stanley Burrell and No. 21 Xavier will try and end their struggles against Creighton on Wednesday.
Xavier enters this contest having lost its last three meetings against Creighton. Last season, the Bluejays posted a 73-67 win over the Musketeers in Omaha, Nebraska.
It is a much different looking Creighton team though, as it returns just one starter from last season's team that went 22-11, and reached the NCAA Tournament for the seventh time in nine seasons.
Burrell scored 18 points and Josh Duncan grabbed a career-high 10 rebounds as the Musketeers posted their fifth straight win, 90-40, over Belmont on Saturday.
Xavier, which has six players averaging double figures, has won 12 straight. The Musketeers are in the midst of a season-high four-game homestand.
The Bluejays have lost 58 of their last 60 road games vs. ranked teams, and do not have an away win over a ranked team since January 28, 1978 when they beat Larry Bird and No. 13 Indiana State.
